Field Of 25 Remain In Betfred Oaks Contention

Following the latest scratching stage, 25 fillies remain in the G1 Betfred Oaks set for Epsom Downs on Friday, May 31.

The 1 1/2-mile race features 15 fillies trained in Britain, nine from Ireland one from France, with the Coolmore partners' Ylang Ylang (GB) (Frankel {GB}) in pole position and 5-2 in the wagering markets on Betfred. The G1 Fillies' Mile heroine ran fifth in the G1 1000 Guineas earlier this month. She is one of seven Aidan O'Brien trainees, with the listed-placed Rubies Are Red (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and G1 Prix Marcel Boussac victress Opera Singer (Justify) also part of the septet.

Another Irish trainer represented is Dermot Weld, who will saddle His Highness The Aga Khan's Ezeliya (Fr) (Dubawi {Ire}), successful in the G3 Salsabil S. near the end of April.

Ralph Beckett's six entries are anchored by recent Listed Cheshire Oaks winner Forest Fairy (Ire) (Waldgeist {GB}), and You Got To Me (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) is also coming off a win in the Listed Oaks Trial Fillies' S. at Lingfield over Rubies Are Red. Andrew Balding has entered G3 Musidora S. winner Secret Satire (GB) (Advertise {GB}).

Fourth in the 1000 Guineas was David Menuisier trainee Tamfana (Ger) (Soldier Hollow {GB}), and the debut winner Siyola (Ire) (Siyouni {Fr}) hails from the barn of John and Thady Gosden.
